Indonesian developer Sinar Mas Land to launch the country’s first proptech startup accelerator

Indonesian property developer Sinar Mas Land has signed a partnership with accelerators GK Plug and Play Indonesia and Digitaraya yesterday, to build a startup acceleration hub in Greater Jakarta’s BSD City, called BSD Innovation Labs.

The lab aims to boost the development of technology-driven startup businesses in BSD City.

In its statement, Sinar Mas Land said that the lab will become the first startup accelerator for property technology in Indonesia and is expected to help push forward the implementation of smart city concepts in the BSD development.

BSD Innovation Labs is set to start operating in early 2020. Digitaraya a startup hub and accelerator linked to the Google Developers Launchpad is said to provide tech support from Google for the lab while GK Plug and Play will help the lab’s startup team to find potential investors and corporate partners.

Located in the outskirts of Jakarta, BSD City hosts various reputable IT and business schools including the Apple Developer Academy, as well as co-working spaces for startups.

In March, Sinar Mas Land also signed a partnership with Grab to cultivate digital infrastructure in the city. Grab said that it will use BSD City as a place to pilot Grab’s new services including an electric vehicle project that is currently being planned together with relevant institutions.
